“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder”

Tomas Carlyle

Based on my own experience, I can say that for me in order to success in life I have to set up my goals first to see how and what to do to reach them. For example one of my goals was to graduate with honors from High School I wrote it down since the beginning of the year on my life planning book and every time I read it I would think what I could to reach that goal. Now the results are positive, yesterday I got one of the most awesome news, I am graduating with high honors. The feeling is hard to describe  it is good to plan out and visualize your goals and it feels better when you reach them.

If there is beauty in character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home there will be order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.

Conclusion:
If there is beaut in character there will be peace in the world.
Chinese Proverb.

I honestly don’t understand this but I get a positive out coming about character about how if there in life is beauty there will be peace, love, respect, and that if there is character there will be beauty too.

“I would prefer to fail with honor than win by cheating”

Sophocles

I am agreeing with this quote because there is nothing better than wining with honor, being proud of what you have done and what you have accomplish with your own effort. In the other hand if you would win by cheating it would not feel any right, you would be cheating yourself.Personal experience I will be honest I cheated before but and the feeling is ugly, bad, makes you feel guilty , not smart and it has nothing to do about cheating everyone else but yourself about your real capacity.

MEMORIAL DAY

“A day, on which those who died in active military service are remembered.”
The purpose of this day is to thank, to show respect, and honor to the soldiers who succumbed fighting for our rights.
This is on May 30.
Some ways to show respect are to decorate your house with the USA flag, is to write a letter to one of the families of the soldiers thanking them, and you could also assist to some of the activities to commemorate this day.
One thing I will do to show respect. I will write about this day on my personal blog.

HIV Inter Disciplinary Project

Our goal: to inform our community how HIV and AIDS can be transmitted and how to prevent yourself ad others from becoming infected.

Community: Hispanics Huntington Park

How can HIV and AIDS can be transmitted?

Before lest remember that HIV and AIDS are two different  decease.HIV is an infection that can lead to more infections and AIDS is a syndrome that attacks the immune system.
Is important to remark that it is completely false that if you have HIV you have AIDS ( yes there is a highly risk of you to get AIDS if you already have HIV because your immune system is weak then you can get AIDS )

2014 AIDS Action Committee, Boston

How is HIV passed from one person to another?

Having vaginal, oral, or anal sex with an infected person.

Sharing needles, syringes, rinse water, or other equipment that an infected person used.

This next ones are rare but can happen.

Being born to an infected mother. HIV can be passed from mother to child during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.

Transfusion of Blood from an infected person.

Pretty much anything that has a direct contact with  certain body’s fluids such as blood, vaginal, fluid, semen, breast milk, and rectal secretions from an infected person, are ways of acquiring THE Human Immune Virus.

Myths about how HIV is transmitted.
I can get HIV with mosquitoes bite.

I can get infected if I use utensils used by an infected person.

HIV/AIDS is mostly a disease of homosexual men.

HIV/AIDS is mostly an African problem.

There is no hope for those with HIV/AIDS.

If I come out positive there’s nothing I can do.

A cure exists for HIV/AIDS.

Even though there is not cure for this infection there are several treatments that can help HIV positives to have a control over the decease allowing them to live with it.

“More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV infection, and almost 1 in 7 (14%) are unaware of their infection.”
“Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSMa), particularly young black/African American MSM, are most seriously affected by HIV.” stated a website called Centers For Decease Control and Prevention, HIV in the United States: At A Glance last reviewed: May 11, 2015,website visited May 19, 2015.

The HIV/AIDS SURVEILLANCE IN CALIFORNIA is in charge of gathering the data about people getting infected with HIV in California. In the other hand from September 2010 the amount of people that got infected increase considerably, in September 2013 around 770 people from California got HIV compared to 2010 the amount of people infected in 2013 increased by almost 265 people in this specific month. How does it feel?

Kathy
“Hi I’m Kathy 12 I was born with HIV…”
“people tell me that people like me shouldn’t even be on this earth…”
“I’m really scared”
Zambian
“Well, I always thought I will never be positive but it has happened and there's nothing I can do about it but to live…”
Mr.K
“We began seeing each other…our relationship grew stronger…Life was very good until February 11, 2010…I discovered a hospital document…my partner was HIV poz and had been for 10 years prior…I was devastated!”
“I am heart broken, confused and angry. Being lied to by someone you love so much just adds to the pain of having to deal with the news of being HIV poz.”

Attitude Perception (Survey)

Controversy
A shot to prevent HIV?
“researchers in California also discovered a vaccine that could halt HIV transmission and infection, and could assist those who are already living with the virus.”
“In California, researchers at the Scripps Research Institute in California developed a radical new approach to tackling HIV, whereby they altered the DNA of monkeys to give their cells HIV-fighting properties, which would completely protect them from the virus and the ensuing disease.”

We completely encourage you all to educate yourself more about this virus that is affecting mankind.
There is not a reason why parents should not talk about this.
Teens protect yourself, parents talk to your kids about sex, students ask questions( to your teachers, parents, doctors).

Talking about sex to our generation is crucial everyone should contribute to this educational goal which is to stop spreading the decease.

“The most important thing you will ever have is good values”`

Dennis Prager

In my opinion if a person don’t have values that means that he or she does not have respect for each other. This quote is very certain because everyone in the planet should have values maybe our values change according to our culture or religion but they’re still there.  This is a unique value that distinguish the appreciation of human live and other things less important.

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong”

Wilford Woodruff

I agree with these quote because You will never get anything ( or at least anything positive from doing what’s wrong) when doing the wrong. Choosing the wrong will just give you negative outcomes and a bad name, when you do wrong no one believes you or sees you as a true person with values, instead they look at you as a bad person whom chooses the wrong.

“Nicest Man in the World”

Patrick Morgan is a man who has a big heart. He is kind , very respectful and he does care about others around him. He returned 13,000 dollars , he helped a homeless  women. His actions are really inspiring, they are the right thing to do and something that we all should fall for.  A person you is kind, gentle, and caring is the one who gets the best out of the world by getting all of the reward of feeling happy.

An internal phenomenon
“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity and self-esteem”

Dr.Laura Schlessinger

When you do the right thing you might not look happy in the outside or you might not show to the rest of the people your reward but you will feel the goodness you’ve done in  your inside, that comfortable feeling that comes from doing the right thing that make you feel warm from inside.

LAUSD: Student

By looking at the website http://achieve.lausd.net/Page/1124 I found some services that are very helpful for student s like me at LAUDS. These are ones of the services that this system provides and that I could use to help me in my studies sand that will benefit me in my future.

1. Library: This is a digital library where students can find books they may need besides the ones already provided for the school and that might not be in their libraries. This is really useful for me because it is another resource when I can’t find a book.

2.   Bullying: In this website the LAUDS district also gives us information about bullying and how to prevent it and how to deal with it. This will benefit me if I am being bully, to guide me on the steps to stop it.
3. Graduation: There is also a tap called “Graduation” which contains all the information that will qualify you to graduate if that’s your goal. This will help me by giving me information about my requirements to graduate from high school and how I could commit my goal.

FORGIVENESS

This story is about Lisa, Mega, Eric Smallridge, and Renee mother of Lisa. Eric accidentally kill Megan and Lisa in a car accident, the judge give Eric 20 years in hail but after a certain time Renee forgive Eric saying that he was really sorry of what he has done and she talked to the judge therefore the judge reduced the time for Eric. This act of forgiveness is incredible and very kind from Renee whom putted her pain to the side and forgive the man that killed her daughter. I t is very satisfactory to forgive because that’s how you recover from an injury. Forgiveness is peace.

“When a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive”

Alan Paton

This is a really powerful quote that honestly can be applied to me in several ways and events of my life. Because we are humans, we all commit errors and some of them can hurt people around us and even our love ones. It is important for us to know how to forgive, is we don’t that ugly feeling won’t let us move on and continue with our life. Forgiveness is to grow to be mature not only for this but also to learn that this injuries does not kill you but make you stronger and a person with a bigger heart that know how to forgive.
